April small business sales improved from March, though consumers continue to trim discretionary spending

The ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Small Business Index Increased 1 point in April to 151.

Highlights:

• Overall sales growth slowed to +3.2% YoY,Ìý +0.4% MoM, inflation adjusted to +0.8% YoY, +0.1% MoM
• Consumers continued to spend but at a slower rate than March
• Consumers pulled back on discretionary spending with a monthly push in goods over services
